(re: “Home’s expansion wins no converts,” May 10)
I am a Riverdale resident, and attended the May 7 land use committee meeting to voice my support for the River’s Edge continuing care retirement community.
I was excited to have the opportunity to tell board members that older adults, like myself, are interested in new and modern living options like a CCRC that provide long-term health care peace of mind.
My excitement quickly turned to fear after hearing the mob-like mentality of the audience. I could no longer stand up in fear of being verbally attacked and bullied.
It is a sad day for Riverdale that this community treats its very own neighbors with such hostility — so much so that we can no longer feel safe to express ourselves.
They should be ashamed.
