Schools reopen Friday after Grayson

Posted

New York City schools were closed for winter storm Grayson on Thursday, but they will reopen on Friday, according to the city's education department.

While that means most sports and other activities also are back on, any field trips requiring yellow school buses will be cancelled.

Grayson could dump as much as 10 inches of snow on the city Thursday, as wind chill could get as cold as 20 below zero.

Students had a chance to sleep in Thursday, since the education department made the very unusual move of announcing the school closure the day before, ahead of the storm.
