We're keeping dialogue open

(re: “Compromise isn’t fun, but it’s essential in our society,” May 31)

We wholeheartedly agree with your May 31 editorial that compromise is critical to being a good neighbor and member of the Riverdale community.

River’s Edge is the epitome of this mindset. For the past five years, the Hebrew Home has initiated and invited neighbors, elected officials and the diverse greater Riverdale community to join us in dialogue about the vision for River’s Edge, New York City’s first continuing care retirement community.

As a result, we have adapted our plans nearly 20 times to reflect this feedback. From building internal roadways to alleviate traffic on Palisade Avenue, to moving a building to the north campus from the south, we have listened and responded.

Now that we have formally entered the Uniform Land Use Review Process, we look forward to continuing this dialogue with the Riverdale community, which includes the many thousands of residents, families, employees and clients of the Hebrew Home at Riverdale.
