What world did editorial come from?

In your editorial, you tangled the truth in a patronizing “bizarro” world rant. A good reporter should be able to discern the truth as listed below.

The land use committee, under the jurisdiction of the committee’s chair and vice chairs, held an illegal public hearing as required by ULURP rules with no sign-in sheet, and where a number of people had prepared statements and were not given the opportunity to speak.

Many who could not speak complained to the borough president’s office, and they remedied the problem with Community Board 8.

The decision for the location of the meeting was, as is the usual procedure in CB8, the prerogative of the land use chair.

The only issue concerning the cost, given the emergency need to remedy a mistake by the land use committee chair, is whether the cost is eligible to be paid, and if eligible, whether it is budgeted. Clearly, it was yes to both.

These are the facts. The public should know.
