Woman dies on uptown 1 train

Police are investigating the death of a 53-year-old woman, who was found unconscious aboard an uptown 1 train Monday morning. 

Another rider discovered the woman unresponsive around 8:45 a.m., at the Van Cortlandt Park station at West 242nd Street, according to police, and called 911.

Paramedics arrived, but declared the woman dead.

A medical examiner will determine a cause of death, police added, but there were no signs of trauma.

Police are withholding the woman’s identity until her family is notified. Officers from the 50th Precinct continue to investigate.
