Everyone who knows Emmanuel “Emmy” Andújar has one tragic day in April of 2012 forever etched in their minds. It was the day Andújar, a former Manhattan College basketball star, lost his brother, Jose, to an unthinkable tragedy, leaving him speechless.

In the depths of Truman High School’s concrete basement, DeWitt Clinton’s boys basketball team was looking to extend its 10-game winning streak. They were up against William C. Bryant’s Owls, who put together a spirited effort to try and meet Clinton’s physical style of pressure basketball. Ultimately, the Governors dominated the Owls, 73-35.

The effort requires many to roll up their sleeves to beautify the playing grounds. But first, they seek to spread awareness for their cause, and this time it came through during the first annual Courts of Dream Classic.
