Community Board 8 is accepting nominations for its Irving Ladimer Community Service Award.

Ladimer is described as a beloved community board member whose passion was civics and volunteering for our community.

The only criteria for consideration is that the nominee has acted on a volunteer basis to improve or enhance, in some way, the quality of life of Community Board 8 residents. The nominations are open to individuals and organizations or groups with an interest in the community. Those who are salaried for their efforts or who perform these services as an extension of their studies or professional responsibility are not eligible for this award.

Some awardees worked to improve northwestern Bronx environment, parks, quality of life. Volunteers have given of their free time in so many ways to make a better life for all in our community, a press release said.

The nomination form can be found on the board’s website at, or by request one from the board office via email at, or by phone at (718) 884-7895.

Deadline to apply is May 13.

Nominations can also be sent by mail to 5676 Riverdale Ave., Suite 100, Bronx, N.Y., 10471, to the attention of “CSA nomination.”
