POLICE BEAT

Commit one crime at a time

Posted

If you’re going to violate traffic rules, it’s probably best to do it when you’re not driving around with fake license plates on your car.

One man could’ve used this advice Jan. 19 when he did this exact thing. Cops say they pulled him over after he allegedly ran a red light around 11 p.m., at the corner of West 231st Street and Bailey Avenue. When they ran his temporary New Jersey license plates through the computer, they found them to be forged. Even worse, the man reportedly had a stun gun inside his car.

Police arrested him, charging him with possession of a forged instrument, criminal possession, and a traffic violation.

Beat the clock

If you have to run inside your house to grab something, it’s probably best to shut your car off and take the keys with you every time.

Unfortunately, one man thought he could beat the clock, and learned this lesson the hard way.

The man reportedly turned on his car on Jan. 11 to warm it up on a cold day. But he then ran back inside his home on the 3100 block of Sedgwick Avenue to grab his wallet.

When he returned, his 2011 Mercedes was nowhere to be found.

Police are still looking for it.

No tires, no driving

Have you ever tried driving a car without tires and rims? Well, you’re probably not going to get very far.

One victim had to face this question Jan. 10 after both were stolen off her car.

According to a report, she parked at the 5200 block of Post Road, returning to find all four tires and rims missing from her 2019 Mercedes.
