Dealing with back-to-back robberies

The New York City Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating several individuals in connection to a series of robberies that occurred recently within the 50th precinct.

The first incident, on Oct. 10 at 2:40 p.m., happened after four men on two motorcycles pulled up to two people on the corner of Sedgwick Avenue and Hillman Avenue and demanded their property.

One of the perps pulled out a pistol while another grabbed a necklace from one of the victim’s neck. The robbers then fled east on Sedgwick Avenue with $1,800 worth of stolen items.

The second robbery happened soon after at 3:10 p.m. on the corner of West 238th Street and Bailey Avenue. The victim was walking in that area when the same group of men drove up to him on a motorcycle.

The men then pulled out a gun and forcibly removed his chain off his neck. They also made away with the victim’s cell phone.

Sushi snagged

A man was arrested at the Foodtown at 5555 Broadway on Oct. 9 around 6:40 p.m after trying to steal from the store. According to police, a store employee confronted the perp after trying to take two packages of sushi.

The suspect then got violent and bit the employee’s arm. The suspect was picked up by officers with the 50th precinct soon after.

Packages stolen

There was a burglary at 3636 Fieldston Road sometime between Oct. 8 at 2:40 p.m. and Oct. 11 at 11:30 a.m.

According to police, a man forcibly opened the front door to the residential building and took several packages from the lobby. No arrests have been made.

BMW taken

Sometime between Oct. 16 at 11 p.m. and Oct. 20 at 11 a.m. a car was stolen from the 3000 block of Palisades Avenue.

The victim told police he had parked his 2018 BMW, valued at $20,000, at that location and when he returned days later it was no longer there. There were no cameras at the location, and the vehicle has not been recovered.

Scammer alert

A north Riverdale resident was the victim of online scam recently.

According to police, an unknown individual purchased several items online between Oct. 12 at 8 p.m. and Oct. 14 at 12 p.m. using the victim’s credit card.

The perp then reportedly tried to pick up the packages at a UPS location using a military ID. No arrests have been made.

Wheels AWOL

The tires and wheels were stolen from a 2022 Acura parked on the 3800 block of Corlear Avenue sometime between Oct. 13 at 9:30 p.m. and Oct. 14 at 7:30 a.m.

The total value of the stolen items is more than $5,000. There were no cameras in the vicinity, and no arrests have been made.

Motorbike recovered

A motorcycle parked on the 3600 block of Hudson Manor Terrace was stolen sometime between October 14 around 11 p.m. and Oct. 15 at 5:30 a.m. The victim had a tracking device on their 2015 BMW and was able to retrieve the bike in Queens.

No arrests have been made.
