Effort bringing all faiths together

Posted

To the editor:

I am a member of The Riverdale Y New Beginnings Center for Older Adults.

This is a shout-out to The Riverdale Y administration and to Rabbi Joseph Robinson for all their activities to foster understanding between diverse peoples.

Last year, there was a wonderful workshop about the LGBTQ+ community, which explained what the new terminology that LGBTQ+ people have embraced was and to answer questions and foster communication.

On Monday, April 11, people assembled from the Bronx and Westchester County to celebrate each other’s faith traditions and to learn about their similarities and differences. Islamic, Jewish and Christian faiths were represented. Ramadan, Passover and Easter were explored.

After sharing about their faiths, an Iftar dinner was shared. The event brought many people together, and was indeed a blessing for all involved.

Thank you, again, Rabbi Robinson, Matt Abrams-Gerber, Deann Forman, the entire staff and board of directors of The Y for providing the community with events that bring us all together in this very difficult time that the world is going through.
