Evelyn Morgenstern, who always volunteered with senior citizens, 78

Evelyn Morgenstern, a 53-year resident of the Fieldstondale Co-op in North Riverdale, passed away on Dec. 1, 2021. She was 78.

She was born in New York City on March 22, 1943, to the late Rita and Louis Sperling. She worked as a payroll manager for The New York Times, and loved her time volunteering at The Century senior center until the coronavirus pandemic limited her time there.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Leonard, as well as her cherished children Barry (Cheryl) and Steven (Bernadette), and four adoring grandchildren, Juliann, Clara, Connor and Caitlin.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Stephen Sperling.

A graveside funeral was held at Beth Israel Cemetery in Woodbridge, New Jersey.
