Greater Riverdale resident named to Nichols College president’s list

Aaron Portes of greater Riverdale achieved the academic honor of president’s list for the fall 2022 semester at Nichols College.

To be named on the president’s list, Portes held a GPA of 3.85 or higher for at least 12 undergraduate credit hours.

Founded in 1815 as Nichols Academy, Nichols College is a private business college in Massachusetts. The institution offers both bachelor’s and master’s degrees as well as certificate programs.

Omicron Delta Kappa honorees

El-Kalif Cooper of greater Riverdale joined more than 600 students from 23 universities to be named to the Loyola University New Orleans Circle of Omicron Delta Kappa, the National Leadership Honor Society.

Students initiated into the society must be sophomores, juniors, seniors or graduate professional students in the top 35 percent of their class.

At most, 5 percent of students on campus are invited to join each year.

The society was founded in Lexington, Virginia, by a group of 15 students and faculty members to recognize and foster leadership at the collegiate level. The founders established Omicron Delta Kappa as an idea that people representing all phases of collegiate life should collaborate with faculty and others to support the campus community.

New York Tech dean’s list

Digital arts major Ilan Cohen-Vasquez and computer science major Dorio Oleaga from greater Riverdale were among more than 430 students to be named to the fall 2022 dean’s list at New York Tech.

They earned at least a 3.5-grade point average and completed 12 or more credit hours without any incomplete grades.

Founded in 1955, the New York Institute of Technology serves nearly 8,000 students worldwide as a non-profit private independent institution. It included six schools: engineering and computing science, arts and science, osteopathic medicine, architecture & design, health professions and management.

Oneonta’s dean’s list

Luis Jimenez, a digital & studio art major from greater Riverdale, was one of more than 1,200 SUNY Oneonta’s students who earned the title of dean’s list honors for the fall 2022 semester.

Jimenez earned a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.

After graduation, nearly three-fourths of students have been involved in at least two high-impact learning experiences.
