How about a beer?

(re: “Rivera holds off Camilo, party machine,” Aug. 25)

It was a tough battle against an entrenched political machine — one which was fought as dirty a campaign as might be expected from the Republican Party. 

But the constituents have spoken, and we welcome and congratulate you, Sen. Gustavo Rivera. We look forward to working with you — making our district, the Bronx, our city and our state a better place for all to live, work and play.

Welcome, and we are so glad to have you here representing all of us!

A special personal shout-out to Michael Heller, ex-president of the Benjamin Franklin ”Not So” Reform Democratic Club. Your special form of encouragement helped me double-down on my efforts to re-elect Gustavo.

I really appreciate them and want to personally thank you. How about we celebrate over a beer?
