Irene Jacklosky, 91, who put kids through college

Irene Theresa Jacklosky, 91, formerly of Rutherford and Newark, New Jersey, died peacefully on July 30, 2020, in her home.

She was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, on April 8, 1929, the daughter of Irene T. and Charles T. McCarthy.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, in 1977, as well as her sister Anna Johnson, brothers Thomas and Charles McCarthy, and niece Donna Johnson. She is survived by her children, Donna and Rob Jacklosky, and daughter-in-law Elizabeth Dwyer, who were with her at the end, as well as her niece Cheryl Wallace, and many other nieces and nephews.

She was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School in Wilkes-Barre.

She worked for a range of companies, including the Celanese Corp., in Newark, as well as the Sears in North Bergen, New Jersey, as a credit analyst. She was proud to have put both of her children through college and graduate school.

Private services will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Hanover, Pennsylvania, on Friday, Aug. 7, 2020, at 11:30 a.m.
