Kingsbridge Avenue legend Raymond Ikone dies at 79

Posted

Raymond Ikone, a “Kingsbridge Avenue Legend” for 41 years, passed away on May 26, 2020, at the Milstein Hospital. He was 79.

A golden heart stopped beating due to a long battle with heart failure.

He was loved by many who knew exactly how to shine his charisma and humor on everyone. All who had the pleasure of knowing him, remember him as a gentle, kind man.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lucille Ikone. He was the beloved father of three children — sons Raymond Ikone and Christopher Ikone, and daughter Dawn Ikone. He was the dear father-in-law of Liza Ikone and Kerry Ikone. He also was the devoted grandfather of Jason, Nicole, Michele, Jennifer, as well as four great-grandchildren: Brandon, Hailey, Lindsey and Kali.

He was so proud of the family he had, especially seeing his children’s success through the years. Eldest son Raymond served in the U.S. Air Force for 24 years, retiring as a senior master sergeant. Christopher is an inspector with the New York Police Department, protecting and serving for 30 years. Dawn has been an executive secretary for an insurance agency for 24 years.
