To the editor:
Thank you for your recent article, "Hope for Church of the Mediator," which clearly explained the architectural and historic importance of saving the church from destruction. Community members came together to build the Mediator over 100 years ago.
We hope the greater Kingsbridge community can work with the congregation to save it. It is an important link to the neighborhood's past. When it was built, Tibbetts Brook flowed through Kingsbridge, which was something like a small town in those days. Today, its beauty is a point of pride for residents and the tall trees on its grounds provide much needed shade for a dense urban environment. If the building can be preserved, it would be a gift for future generations of Kingsbridge residents.
