No more lies about Sen. Rivera

Posted

To the editor:

We’re appalled by the falsehoods being spread by Assemblyman Jeffrey Dinowitz and the Bronx Democratic machine against state Sen. Gustavo Rivera, who is running for re-election in the 33rd District.

They are again employing the reprehensible tactics we saw them use against Dinowitz’s opponent in last month’s Assembly primary.

Sen. Rivera doesn’t support “defunding the police,” nor does he support the boycott, divestment and sanctions movement. He has stated without equivocation that he supports substantial funding for our police, that he is against BDS, and that he supports Israel’s right to exist as a Jewish democratic state.

The Bronx machine’s statements are bogus. Don’t believe the attempt to discredit Sen. Rivera, who in his 11 years in the senate has a strong history of advocacy for our community, including being the recognized prime mover of the New York Health Act, which would greatly benefit all New Yorkers.

We call on Miguelina Camilo to disavow the lies of those who are promoting her.
