To the editor:
Over the years, there seems to have been an increase in the amount of construction waste being improperly disposed of on Palisade Avenue. High-quality contractors include clauses in their proposals stating that construction waste will be properly and legally disposed of. This leads me to believe that some property owners are using low-quality contractors who are willing to skirt the rules and litter in our neighborhood. I think it is the responsibility of our local representatives to ensure, either that offenders are caught and they, or their respective hirers, be fined or property owners be required to only employ contractors that follow the rules. Riverdale is one of the most beautiful neighborhoods in the city. Steps should be taken to keep the tree-lined streets clean.
