LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

Please stop turning people away

Posted

To the editor:

On Friday, Dec. 3, Catholic sisters, people of faith, Network and other groups gathered outside the White House to pray, march and advocate that President Biden rescind Title 42, which sends those seeking asylum at the southern border away.

Stories told by those feeling violence and oppression, and those assisting them, witness to the fact that the United States must uphold the right to asylum.

President Biden needs to stop Title 42. As a person of faith, a member of the Network lobby and the Sisters of Charity immigration committee, I join with many others in journeying with — and advocating for — our brother and sister migrants.

I call us all to become more aware of the root causes of migration, and demand that our government address those root causes.
