Police hunting for man involved in Fieldston stabbing

Posted

Police are tracking down a man they say stabbed someone in Fieldston a couple weeks back, and need the public's help to catch him.

A 38-year-old man was walking near the corner of Fieldston Terrace and West 252nd Street around dinnertime Sept. 19 when someone reportedly came from behind, stabbing him on the left side of his neck and his left arm.

The attacker ran away, and the man was rushed to Columbia University Irving Medical Center in Washington Heights, where police said he was listed in stable condition.

Using surveillance video from nearby homes, police believe the man they want to question in the stabbing is a dark-skinned adult male, approximately 5-foot-8, medium build, last seen wearing a black hooded sweater, light blue jeans and white sneakers.

Police didn't share any information on a possible motive for the attack.

Anyone with any information is asked to call the New York Police Department's Crime Stoppers hotline at (800) 577-8477, or in Spanish at (888) 577-4782.

Tips also can be submitted by logging into the CrimeStoppers website at NYPDCrimeStoppers.com, or on Twitter at NYPDTips.

All calls, police say, are strictly confidential
