Ponce Bank will offer $60,000 annually in scholarships for minorities in partnership with CUNY,  according to Carlos Naudon, the bank’s president and chief executive.

Undergraduate students who live in economically disadvantaged communities, identify as members of a minority group and attend any of 12 CUNY senior and community colleges in four boroughs are eligible to apply.

The scholarship program will begin in Fall 2022 with individual awards of between $1,000 and $2,500 per student.

“Ponce Bank is uniquely proud to spearhead this significant scholarship program, and we are excited to be doing so in tandem with the City University of New York,” Naudon said, in a release.

“With deep roots in the communities we serve, at Ponce Bank we feel that education is the lifeblood of a thriving, forward-moving population.”

Eligible students must reside in a low-to-moderate-income community and identify as a member of a minority group. Participating colleges are Hostos Community College, Lehman College, Bronx Community College, Medgar Evers College, Kingsborough Community College, Brooklyn College, Guttman Community College, Borough of Manhattan Community College, John Jay College of Criminal Justice, York College, LaGuardia Community College and Queensborough Community College.

Applicants must submit a short essay explaining what makes them ideal candidates for this award.
