Purchase College releases dean’s list

A SUNY school not too far from greater Riverdale, Purchase College, celebrated more than 1,250 students named to the dean’s list during the spring semester.

Of those students, the following come from the Riverdale area:

• Christina Roldan

• David Fitzpatrick

• Alexander Baglio

• Ariella Ziu

• Karissa Leonardo

• Machenzie Schiller

All students maintained a grade point average of 3.5 or higher and a minimum of 12 credits a semester.

For a bachelor’s degree in science or associate arts, a semester grade point average of 3.5 is required. For a degree in the fine arts and music is slightly higher to maintain as the requirement is 3.75.

Purchase one of 64 in the SUNY system, which was founded in 1948.

Purchase was founded in 1967 by Gov. Nelson Rockefeller. It enrolls just under 3,700 students.

 

Student receives medal for religious essay

The College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts, awarded Julianne Esteves with a 2022 Rev. William F. Hartigan Medal.

The Rev. William F. Hartigan medal is awarded for the best essay on a subject in religion.

Holy Cross is a highly selective, private, exclusively four-year undergraduate college.

Founded in 1843, it had a goal to educate young Roman Catholic men when at the time they were not welcome at most colleges and universities. The college sought to instill the knowledge of Catholic and Jesuit teachings.
