Putin's excuse

To the editor:

(re: “Peace demanded in face of brutal invasion,” March 3)

Force can only be met with force. That is the inescapable truth. All other measures fall short.

True motivations are unknowable. Russia certainly doesn’t need Lebensraum, which was Hitler’s excuse. A bigger page in the history books for Putin?

Who knows. It is a modern tragedy.
