LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

Remembering those old days

To the editor:

Enjoyed reading the 70th anniversary issue on Dec. 17. But you left out one major event.

My first job out of Hunter College, two weeks after graduation, was as a reporter for The Riverdale Press. I got a referral from the printer of my college newspaper.

I learned a great deal from Dave Stein and editor Joe Fitzpatrick, and remained a friend when I went into public relations. I recall Celia Stein fighting with Dave if he wanted to add another advertisement to her social pages.

She normally won.

Buddy and Richie came in after school and wanted to play around. Celia said they first had to do some homework.

Great start to a career in journalism and public relations. Time fondly remembered.
