Riverdale Children Raise Money for Hurricane Relief Efforts

Posted

Ahna and Simon Pultinas with help from their parents and neighbors raised over $225 on Saturday afternoon to benefit victims of Hurricane Sandy. With a chill in the air, the children were able to tempt passersby on the sidewalk in front 6495 Broadway to warm up with hot apple cider and homemade pumpkin muffins. All of the proceeds from the sale will be donated to the American Red Cross.

"Since we were not hit that hard by the storm, I find it is important to help the people who had it hard," said 10-year old Ahna Pultinas who planned the event and designed the poster. "I think the sale went great, especially because of the fact that we raised so much money for a good cause," she added.

Simon Pultinas, age 6, said "It was really fun to have two of my friends from school stop by."
