Two children injured in Kingsbridge domestic dispute

Posted

A domestic dispute turned violent in Kingsbridge on Tuesday night, sending a mother and her two children fleeing — this children bleeding from neck wounds.

Police arrested Carlos Camilo, 43, after they say he tried to kill an 18-year-old girl and a 12-year-old boy in his 3416 Irwin Ave., home, by slashing them in the neck. Investigators from the 50th Precinct wouldn't share what Camilo's relationship was to the girl and boy, but they added the attack appeared to be an escalation of an argument Camilo was having with their mother.

That mother, who was not identified by police, flagged down a passer-by not far from the home at about 10:45 Tuesday night, who took her and the children to the 50th Precinct station house on Kingsbridge Avenue. The boy and girl were rushed to Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in Inwood where police say they are in stable condition.

When police arrived on Irwin Avenue to arrest Camilo, he reportedly barricaded himself in his home. Police ultimately subdued and arrested him without incident, and he was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital in Fordham Heights for evaluation.

Camilo was charged with two counts of attempted murder, and multiple accounts of assault, child endangerment, unlawful possession of a weapon, resisting arrest and menacing.
