Voice for peace is anything but

Posted

To the editor:

I was disturbed to see your Sept. 12 “What’s On?” notice concerning a “Jewish Voice for Peace” panel discussion, amidst your generally benign cultural and civic activities listings.  The group’s name is a mask, as it neither reflects Jewish values or core identity, nor promotes genuine peace. The defamation of Israel the group spreads at rallies and online condones Hamas terror and justifies violence against Israeli civilians. It seeks the destruction of the Jewish State as well as the U.S.-Israel relationship.

I ask the editor to consider whether he would publish meeting details for a chapter of the Ku Klux Klan, which has terrorized Black people and orchestrated lynchings.  If your answer is no, then I believe you should not have a double standard regarding anti-Jewish hate groups.

If you do so, you are normalizing and encouraging antisemitism in all its forms, the current prevalent one being defamation of the Jewish state now stoking worldwide ostracism and violence against Jews.
