Following a Press report about P.S. 207 parents who are upset about the lack of apparent changes at their school — the site of allegations of widespread bullying and administrative stonewalling — the Department of Education sent the following statement:

"Superintendent Melodie Mashel has been working closely with the school to address concerns that have been raised. Following a recent visit to the school, she has led the implementation of the below actions and will continue to track progress and ensure the school is providing a safe and supportive learning environment for students."

The April 27 statement listed these actions:

"Hired additional school aides to ensure safety, specifically during lunch.

"Purchased equipment for students to use during recess.

"Repaired the fences in the school yard.

"Worked with the Principal to expand engagement with families and larger school community.

"Scheduled a recurring safety meeting."
