Fake cop home invasion

Posted

1. Authorities say a man pretending to be a police officer ushered four masked men into a Kingsbridge apartment at around 5 a.m. on Dec. 9, and acted as a lookout while the burglars tied up a man and woman and ran off with a wallet, cash and a $200 iPhone.

The man introduced himself as a police officer when knocking on the door of an apartment near Orloff Avenue and Cannon Place, police said. When the occupants opened the door, officers said four men wearing black ski masks forced their way inside, where they remained for about an hour.

The NYPD’s Internal Affairs division is investigating the home invasion because it involved the impersonation of an officer. Police would not disclose the address of the apartment, age of the victims or how much money was stolen.

Police ask that anyone with information related to the home invasion  to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS. Tips will be kept confidential.

A 30-year-old man told officers two men pushed him from behind, knocked him to the ground near Tyndall Avenue and West 262nd Street, and flashed a gun, ordering him to, “Give me all you got,” early on Christmas Day.

Police said the victim gave the suspects $790 in cash, before they took off, at around 5:30 a.m.

The case remains open.

Police said a 46-year-old man parked his 2000 Honda Civic near Broadway and West 252nd Street at 6:40 a.m. on Dec. 27, and returned to find it missing later that evening.

The car contained a GPS system.

The case remains open.

4. Bedroom burglarized

A 25-year-old man told officers someone ransacked his bedroom at 3660 Waldo Ave. while he was out on Dec. 24, stealing an iPad worth $247, a necklace worth $700 and a wallet with an ID in it.

Police believe the burglar may have entered through an unlocked living room window.

The case remains open.
