Jeter first in hearts of Yankees fans

To the editor:
To the world, he was another shortstop coming up, but to us New Yorkers, he was our very own shining star. Others had the Bambino, the Iron Horse, Joltin’ Joe, the Mick and Berra. We had the Captain, and boy, did he ever deserve the title.
It all started in 1996 as he took the baseball world by storm, and the rest is our history as Yankees fans. A salute to number 2: you’ll always be number 1 to this generation.
A Yankees fan for life!
