Please police the playground

To the editor:

I am a concerned Riverdale parent raising two teenage boys. I moved here from Kingsbridge so my boys could have a better quality of life. Unfortunately, it turns out that maybe we would have been better off in Kingsbridge. There seems to be more of a police presence there. 

I am finding out that teenagers are hanging out in the P.S. 81 playground at all hours and that there is drug dealing going on. This is happening right in front of small children? I notified the 50th Precinct. They said they know about the problem, but can’t have a patrol car there all the time.

My friend’s teenage son, who is mentally ill and is at risk of being expelled from school, is a frequent customer of these drug dealers.

Many other parents in the Riverdale community are very concerned as well. I am asking for your help! What other options do we have to protect our children?
