LETTER TO THE EDITOR

Double-standard with the police

Posted

To the editor:

Several weeks ago, Bronx police were attempting to arrest a drug dealer. This criminal did not want to be arrested, so he fled on a crowded sidewalk on his illegal motorcycle.

A police sergeant, seeing him on the crowded sidewalk, attempted to stop him by throwing a cooler at him. It worked. The criminal — who was not wearing a helmet — hit his head on a car and was killed.

In a television interview some days later,  the Bronx borough president called for the hero police office to be indicted for murder.

The officer should actually be promoted for stopping the drug dealer. Perhaps if the cop did not stop him and he hit a child on the sidewalk, the borough president would have called for the officer to be fired for not doing his duty.

I call for our pro-criminal borough president to resign immediately.
