Jasper's Deli robbery part of crime spree in two precincts

Apparently, the robbery of Jasper’s Deli at 434 W. 238th St. near Manhattan College on Aug. 14 was one of two that occurred not too far apart, according to police.

The Jasper’s Deli robbery, in which four people reportedly made off with $300, took place about 30 minutes before four people stole $1,000 from the Yummy Gourmet Deli at 379 E. Bedford Park Blvd., police said.

At 2:15 a.m., four individuals entered Jasper’s and demanded money from a 33-year-old employee. One of the individuals gestured under his shirt that he had a firearm, prompting the employee to hand over $300 in cash, according to police.

In the Yummy Gourmet robbery, four people entered the deli and demanded money from an employee. One of the men displayed a firearm, leading them to get $1,000 in cash.

Three of the four men are described as slim, wearing black hooded sweatshirts, black masks, black pants and white sneakers. The fourth man is said to have a dark complexion, a medium build, and was wearing a white shirt wrapped around his head, black sunglasses, a white T-shirt, black pants and black sneakers.
