NYPD cruiser hits man on moped on West 254th Street

A 19-year-old man on a moped traveling in a bike lane was hit by a police cruiser on Saturday, Sept. 2, police reported. Police say they were responding to a 911 call around 4:30 p.m. when the collision occurred near West 254th Street and Broadway.

Police say a 28-year-old woman in a 2018 Ford (police cruiser) was traveling northbound on Broadway. The officer was making a right to merge onto southbound Henry Hudson Parkway when police say the 19-year-old man operating a 2020 motorcycle traveling southbound on Broadway collided with the vehicle.

The police report did not indicate who was at fault. EMS transported the 19-year-old man to St. Barnabas Hospital, and he was in stable condition.

Man sought who recklessly fired gun

The New York Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a man who allegedly discharged a firearm several times in front of a Bailey Avenue apartment last week.

Police received a report around 4:20 a.m. on Sept. 5, about an unknown man firing a gun multiple times in front of 3340 Bailey Ave. Three unoccupied vehicles in the parking lot were struck. It was unknown who the intended target was, but the gunman fled into the apartment, police said.

When the man took an elevator to the eighth floor he was caught on surveillance camera with a firearm in his right arm. He was wearing a red hooded jacket, black pants and blue sandals.

Police describe the man as about 5-foot-4, 140 pounds, with a dark complexion, slim build and long, and black hair in dreadlocks.

SUB: Police seek man who stole wallet, iPhone

The New York Police Department is seeking a man connected to a grand larceny incident that occurred in front of 6007 Broadway on Aug. 18.

Police received a report around 8:45 p.m. from a 42-year-old woman. While using her iPhone 11 outside of the Burger King on Broadway, her device was suddenly snatched out of her hands by a man on a moped. The man fled, traveling northbound on Broadway.

There were no injuries reported, however the woman’s stolen iPhone’s case included a wallet that contained both bank and credit cards.

The man was allegedly caught on surveillance footage using the woman’s credit card at Samuel Boutique at 188 Audubon Ave., purchasing about $500 in merchandise.

The alleged thief is described as a man with a dark complexion, medium build and short, black hair. He was last seen wearing a brown Pittsburgh Pirates baseball hat, a brown hoodie, and dark blue jeans.
