Remembering the victims

U.S. Rep. Ritchie Torres visited Riverdale Country School for a student art project called ‘You Know the Drill’ on  June 5, that honored gun violence victims. The exhibit included the work of students in grades 7 through 12. The event was in collaboration with the Soul Box Project. ‘The purpose of this project is not to force opinions upon others, but instead to provide necessary facts so its viewers can form their own perspectives,’ said Bennett Gorman, a rising senior. The project was initially meant for others to process their loss. But over time the students added the facts of gun violence. They connected facts together like a detective’s crime board to express the importance of investigation of gun violence in today’s society. Torres was so moved by the exhibit that it will have a home in the congressman’s Bronx office.
