Andrew Thomas Maguire, a resident of Skyview on Hudson for 39 years, died Aug. 26 at the age of Age 61, after a long battle with lung cancer.
Mr. Maguire devoted his life to his singular passion: cars, his brother, Tom Maguire, said.
“Despite a genuine genius IQ, he spent the majority of his life turning wrenches,” he said.
Andrew Maguire studied at The General Motors Institute and held management positions at Ruckle Pontiac, Management Consultants, Riverdale Shell and VanDale Shell/Sunoco among other places. He taught young auto mechanics at Apex Technical Schools, his brother said.
Recently, he oversaw fleets of ambulances and para-transit vehicles for the Empress and American ambulance companies in Yonkers.
He is survived by his brother Thomas; nephew Thomas, companion Barbara; and many cousins.
He was buried at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Valhalla, N.Y.
