Riverdale housing market soars

Posted

The average sales price for houses and condos in the Riverdale market continues to boom, at least according to the latest report from real estate company Douglas Elliman.

Average sales grew quarter-by-quarter by nearly a third, reaching just over $610,000. In comparison to the late summer months of 2020, sales in Riverdale were up by nearly 50 percent.

Median sales prices also were up, but the increases there were more modest — slightly over 10 percent for the quarter.

One of the faster-growing property types in the community now are smaller homes for up  to three families homes. Condos also are playing a major role in driving the market, increasing average and median sales prices. Both are up more than 20 percent over the past three months compared to not only spring, but the same time period as last year.

The number of sales doubled from last year, according to Douglas Elliman, making it the highest total in 16 years.
