Making Headway is a nonprofit supporting families of children diagnosed with brain or spinal cord tumors. In 2024 the organization will provide up to 15 scholarships of up to $5,000 to eligible applications.
To be eligible you must be a brain or spinal cord tumor survivor residing in the New York, New Jersey, Connecticut area. The application must be admitted or already attending a college or vocational program.
A special $15,000 scholarship will be given as part of the 5th annual Michael Schwartz Making Headway Scholarship. To learn more and apply visit MakingHeadway.org/scholarship/ The deadline is May 1.
Greater Riverdale’s Mollie Ehrenberg was named to the College of William and Mary’s Dean’s List for the 2023 fall semester. To receive the honor of dean’s lists students must maintain a grade point average of 3.6 or higher will handling a 12 hour course load.
James Magill has been added to the Dean’s List for the spring 2023 semester. At the time James was a sophomore majoring in Environmental Studies.
He interned at Wave Hill during his summer at home and spends his free time beekeeping alongside his father.
Elias Orellana has earned a spot on the Dean’s List at Florida Insititute of Technology. This achievement can only be accomplished by maintaining a grade point average of 3.4 or higher while completing 12 or more credit hours.
Florida Institute of Technology is a private technological university and has been named Top Technical Institute by the Fiske Guide of Colleges.
Florida Tech is known globally for it’s dedication to academics in aerospace, advance manufacturing, aviation, autism treatment, biomedical science, cybersecurity and machine-learning, and marine science.
Isaiah Shikany earned a place on the Dean’s List at University at Buffalo for the fall 2023 semester. In order to receive this honor students must maintain a grade point average of 3.6 or higher while completing 15 credit hours minimum.

“These students have worked hard and dedicated themselves to their studies and have demonstrated academic excellence in their pursuit of an undergraduate degree at UB.”
Matilda Sieger of the Bronx was named to the fall 2023 Dean’s List at Hollins University. Students added to the Dean’s List must maintain a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.
Hollins University is a liberal arts university located in Roanoke Virginia.
The school offers undergraduate education for women and select graduate programs for co-eds.
The school has a nationally recognized creative writing program and offers a robust study abroad program with destinations all over the globe.
