Nearly 14 years after she first said hello to the Kingsbridge Riverdale Van Cortlandt Development Corp., Tracy McCabe Shelton is now starting to say good-bye.

The civic leader announced Tuesday she's stepping down from her role as KRVC executive director by June 30. Although the KRVC board has not yet selected a permanent replacement, while they look, another up-and-coming community leader — Laura Levine-Pinedo — will take over on an interim basis, beginning July 1.

"I am so proud of the team we built, the events we produced, the programs we implemented," Shelton said in her announcement. "I feel confident, with the strong foundation we now have, that KRVC will continue on for many years to come."

KRVC was founded in 1981 as a non-profit focused on encouraging and supporting local initiatives that build and enrich the community through social, cultural, environmental, health, housing, educational and business enterprises, according to the group's website.

It maintains offices at 505 W. 235th St., where it also occasionally features the work of local artists.

Levine-Pinedo founded the 4Bronx Project that is associated with KRVC, designed to support the underserved — according to its website — as well as bring diversity and inclusion in the community.  She has helped organize a number of events, including clothing and toy drives, restaurant weeks, and LGBTQ+ pride celebrations.

"Laura is enthusiastic about taking over, has boundless energy, and an endless stream of great ideas," Shelton told subscribers to her mailing list. "She is dedicated to community service, and KRVC is the perfect vehicle to support her work. I hope our whole community will join me in continuing to support KRVC so that it can remain a strong organization under Laura's leadership."
