The stories are endless with a unique ring to each. They belong to family, friends, and even competitors of a man who prioritized doing good deeds like he did when winning games. There were many more of those things to be realized — hence why days like last Thursday were hard for so many.

The non-profit Bronx Basketball Hall of Fame inducted 15 new members to the Bronx Basketball Hall of Fame on July 15 at Mullaly Park.
The honors will be presented at its annual awards dinner to be held on Nov. 3 at the Villa Barone Manor at 737 Throgs Neck Expressway.

Two years ago, Chris Ballerini was heading up to the second floor gym at DeWitt Clinton High School during one of his breaks. New York City was still on tentative lockdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but Clinton was beginning to bring in some of its students to learn in-person before, eventually, the city would reopen all of its schools.

Riverdale/Kingsbridge Academy wrestling head coach Michael Lepetit had two boys going to qualifiers, and then he remembered his senior Lexi Elson.

Deep in Flushing sits the Fitzgerald gymnasium on Queens College’s campus. Wide with a high, curved white ceiling reinforced with metal beams, it set a grand atmosphere for what felt like an equally grand matchup on Monday between DeWitt Clinton’s boys basketball team and Transit Tech high school from East New York for the semifinals of the PSAL citywide playoffs.
