Arrest made in Riverdale Avenue stabbing case

Police said Javid Edwin, a 21-year-old from Yonkers, was arrested at 8:19 Monday morning in connection with a July 20 stabbing in front of 3190 Riverdale Ave. 

Edwin was charged with murder, manslaughter and criminal possession of a firearm, according to authorities. 

The victim was identified as 34-year-old Tyrell Scott, who is from Wakefield, police said. 

Around 5 p.m. July 20, police responded to a 911 call of a man stabbed in front of 3190 Riverdale Ave. Officers saw a 34-year-old man who had been stabbed in the chest, and the man was taken by officers to Saint Barnabas Hospital in critical condition, police reported. The man died from his injuries July 22, according to police.
