Brian Lavin, former 50th Precinct chief

Brian F. Lavin, a retired New York Police Department deputy chief, died April 6, 2021.
He was a resident of more than 35 years of Fieldston Road, and a past commander of the 50th Precinct when it was awarded the Unit Citation-Precinct of the Year in 1980.
He sometimes was a lunch companion to Dave Stein, founder of The Riverdale Press.
He is survived by daughter Kathleen and son Timothy, and longtime companion of 31 years Nancy McCabe. He was a loving “Pop Pop” to Tristan Negron.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home.
