Collector Francis Grosso Sr.

Francis Joseph Grosso Sr., passed away peacefully on Nov. 20, 2019, surrounded by his loving wife of 53 years Barbara, and his five sons.

He was born Oct. 4, 1939, in Newark, New Jersey — son of Theresa and Dr. Sebastian Grosso — and raised in Riverdale with his loving stepfather, Peter Budicin.

He was a graduate of Mount Saint Michael Academy. The consummate salesman, he excelled as a sales executive for many companies including Remington typewriters, Vydec, and Exxon Office Systems.

An avid car collector, he turned his hobby into a profession by buying and selling classic and collectible cars.

He was most proud of his five sons, to whom he was unwaveringly dedicated.

He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara E. (Gildea) Grosso; sons Francis Joseph Grosso Jr. and wife Tricia Wade of Bel Aire, Maryland; Robert Vincent Grosso and wife Heather Robb of Chatham, New Jersey; Christopher William Grosso and his wife Laura Stanley also of Chatham; Charles John Grosso of Manasquan, New Jersey; and Paul Alexander Grosso, also of Manasquan. He also was survived by 11 grandchildren: Andrew, Benjamin, Christopher, Matthew, Patrick, Ryan, Quinten, Madeline, Finn, Emerson and Jack.

Visitation will be held Thursday, Nov. 21 from 4 to 8 p.m., a O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Highway 35 in Wall, New Jersey.

A funeral Mass will be offered Friday, Nov. 22 at 9:30 a.m., at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, 215 Crescent Parkway, in Sea Girt, New Jersey. Entombment will follow at St. Anne’s Cemetery, 1610 Allenwood Road, Wall.
