College of the Holy Cross fall dean's list announced

The College of the Holy Cross named senior Justin Hudson of greater Riverdale  to the fall 2022 dean’s list. Hudson passed four or more letter-graded courses with no failing grades during the semester, maintaining a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.

The Worcester, Massachusetts-based college is among the nations leading, highly selective, four-year liberal arts institutions.

The college has offered a rigorous, personalized education in the Jesuit Catholic tradition since 1843. There are 3,100 undergraduate students enrolled.

The institution received 7,036 applicants for the Class of 2026, while only 2,558 were accepted, for a 36 percent acceptance rate.

Meanwhile, women make up 55 percent of the college’s enrollment, while there are only 3 percent are international, 59 percent out of state.

Ilan Cohen-Vasquez was one of the New York Institute of Technology students to showcase their scholarly work at the annual Symposium of University Research and Creative Expression on April 14.

At New York Tech’s New York City campus, roughly 120 student research projects were shared through oral and poster presentations.

The symposium covered social impacts such as the relationship between body positivity, physical health solutions to greenhouse gas emissions in Puerto Rico and more.

Rhode Island dean’s list

The University of Rhode Island announced Chloe Imhot of greater Riverdale has been named to 2022 fall dean’s list. 

She is a full-time student, completed 12 or more credits for letter grades, and maintained a 3.3 grade point average or higher.

The University of Rhode Island is the principal public flagship research and graduate institution in the state.

The university considers itself highly competitive, with more than 14,500 undergraduates and 2,200 graduate students.

Students represent 48 states and 76 countries across the globe, with an 18.6 percent tenured faculty who identify as people of color.

SUNY Oneonta’s provost list

For the fall 2022 semester, Ava Roubanian, who is studying the music industry, was one of more than 250 SUNY Oneonta students who earned the title of provost list honors.

Roubanian earned a perfect grade-point average of 4.0. She also carried a course load of 12 hours or more.

The state university, founded in the late 1800s, offers small classes with loads of activities, enrolling about 5,500 students in various bachelor’s degree programs and several graduate certificate and degree programs.

Oneonta sits at No. 20 on the 2022 U.S. News & World Report list of the best public institutions in the region.

It is ranked 186th in the Northeast on the Forbes magazine 2021 list of “America’s top colleges.”

Hamilton College deans list

Hamilton College announced four greater Riverdale students have been named to the fall 2022 dean’s list.

Those students are:

• Olivia Gabriel, a senior majoring in psychology and a graduate of Riverdale Country School

• Luke Hanson, a first-year student and a graduate of Fieldston School

• Hannah Lipskar, a sophomore and a graduate of Horace Mann School

• Samantha Trombone, a sophomore at Riverdale Kingsbridge Academy

These students carried a course load of four or more graded credits throughout the semester and earned a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.

Hamilton, a leading liberal arts institution in Clinton, New York was founded in 1893 as a namesake for one of the United States founding fathers, Alexander Hamilton.

At Hamilton, 86 percent of the Class of 2026 rank in the top 10 percent of their high school class.

Its acceptance rate is 11.8 percent for the Class of 2026. Women make up the institution’s population of 54 percent, with an average enrollment of 2,000 students and approximately 2,000 alums.
