Driver is carjacked at Vannie golf course

A man was driving alongside the Van Cortlandt Park Golf Course on April 21 at 10:30 a.m. when two men approached his vehicle, one of whom flashed a firearm.

At the corner of Bailey Avenue and Van Cortlandt Park West, the men told the victim to get out of his 2016 Toyota Camry.

Both perpetrators then jumped into the victim’s Camry, valued at $21,000, and drove off in an unknown direction.

The victim reported a separate black BMW with unknown plates also drove off at the same time, and could be connected to the incident. There were cameras at the location, however they were not working.

The victim told police the men also made away with $15,000 in cash, two credit cards, his green card and Social Security card that had been stored inside his car. No arrests have been made.

 

Good Samaritan is robbed

While walking on the 200 block of West Kingsbridge Road at midnight on April  27, a woman who approached a man asked him to assist with her vehicle.

The man hopped inside the gray Jeep Cherokee to help her when an unknown male in the back seat grabbed him by the neck, saying, “give me your wallet.”

The victim handed the wallet over — which included his driver’s license and two credit cards — as well as his cell phone. The robber then fled the scene in the Cherokee northbound on Bailey Avenue. No arrests have been made.

 

Laundry room robbery

A man broke into an apartment complex on the 3600 block of Fieldston Road on April 16 between 5:40 and 9 a.m. by popping open a locked door with an unknown object. Once inside, the man took the elevator to the basement floor of the building to the  laundry room.

According to video footage of the incident, he then forced open the money machine, taking an unknown amount of money.

No arrests have been made.

 

Another Honda stolen

A 2022 Honda Accord, valued at $42,000, parked on the 3400 block of Corlear Avenue was stolen sometime between April 15 at 11:30 p.m. and April  16 at 7:30 a.m.

The victim reported to police that she parked the car at that address and returned several hours later to find it missing.

She also stated that there was $4,000 in cash inside the car. No arrests have been made.

 

Corolla takes a beating

A 2015 Toyota Corolla was vandalized on the corner of Netherland Avenue and West 230 Street on the night of April 15. The victim told police she returned to her car on the morning of April 16 to find both the driver side and rear passenger windows damaged. Nothing was removed from the vehicle.

Police did not indicate whether there were cameras in the vicinity. No arrests have been made.

 

Cash, checks swiped

A man told police on April 19 at approximately 3 p.m. someone had taken several checks totaling $1,000 and $2,500 in cash from inside his vehicle. The victim said that he had parked his 2014 Ford on the 6000 block of Broadway, only to return to find a clipboard containing the money and invoice checks was missing. No arrests have been made.
