LETTER TO THE EDITOR

Getting ready for election season

Posted

To the editor:

As district leaders for our community, we are writing to remind our fellow neighbors about the upcoming election season. It is essential that we all actively participate in the democratic process to ensure our voices are heard, and that our community’s interests are represented.

Key dates to remember include Oct. 23, which is the deadline to update your address. If you have moved or changed your address recently, it’s crucial to update your voter registration information.

Your vote is your voice, and having accurate information is essential to making it count.

Also on Oct. 23, is the deadline to request an absentee ballot online or by mail. If you are unable to vote in person on Election Day, make sure to request an absentee ballot.

Your vote matters, regardless of whether you cast it in person or by mail. You can request a ballot at NYCAbsentee.com.

The voter registration deadline is Oct. 28. If you or someone you know is not yet registered to vote, there is still time. The Oct. 28 deadline is approaching, so please register as soon as possible.

You can register online at E-Register.vote.nyc.

Early voting takes place between Oct. 28 and Nov. 5. Early voting provides you with flexibility and ensures you have ample time to cast your ballot.

To find the early voting schedule, visit Vote.nyc/elections.

Election day is Nov. 7. Last Election Day, many people were surprised to learn their poll site had changed. Make sure to check your poll site before you vote during early voting or on Election Day to see what your ballot will look like.

You can do that by going to FindMyPollSite.vote.nyc, or by calling the elections board at (866) 868-3692.

There are two statewide ballot measures, both dealing with changes to the New York state constitution. The first ballot measure is about sewage debt, and the second is about small city debt limits.

You can find out more information about both of these statewide ballot proposals through a Google search, or by typing into your browser: NYCVotes.org/meet-the-candidates/ballot-proposals.

If you have any questions or need assistance with voter registration or absentee ballots, please do not hesitate to reach out to us at districtleaders81@gmail.com.

Let’s make this election season a success for our community by turning out in record numbers and demonstrating the strength of our democracy.
