Thank you for your front-page story on DeWitt Clinton High School.

I taught at Clinton for many years, and highlighting the outstanding history of the school is always of interest to me.

In the future, may I suggest that you contact Gérard Pelisson, co-author of “The Castle on the Parkway,” for the definitive history of DeWitt Clinton and its alumni. For instance, you should know that Tracy Morgan did not graduate from the school, but got an honorary degree.

There are many more worthy graduates, like Avery Fisher, Paddy Chayefsky, Daniel Schorr, Pandro Berman, Lionel Trilling, Gil Noble, Garry Marshall, Charles Rangel, A.M. Rosenthal, Louis Untermeyer and Walter Hoving — to name just a few — whose contributions to making America what it is today are far greater.

Many former faculty members still meet monthly — though now by Zoom — to share our memories and current news. We share a devotion to Clinton that has not dimmed through the years.
