Manhattan College one of the nation's most Military Friendly

Posted

Manhattan College has always prided itself as a patriotic institution. But now it has some real bragging rights to go with it.

The institution is now ranked in the top-10 most military-friendly schools in the nation. That’s by a group — aptly called Military Friendly — which provides positive reinforcement to American organizations, encouraging them to continue investing in programs that improve the lives of military veterans.

It’s the eighth-straight year Manhattan College has been designated Military Friendly, but the first time it cracked the top 10.

Helping Manhattan College earn the distinction is its Veterans Success Programs, which helps transition people from the military life, to one that is civilian, and even academic.

It includes stress-reduction programs, peer bonding, academic support and career preparation.

Manhattan College also offers a Veterans at Ease program. A first-year course, “The Nature and Experience of Religion,” focuses on relaxation techniques, allowing veterans who have become students opportunities to build friendships and partnerships with other students in the course.

More than 1,800 schools participated in the most recent Military Friendly survey, with just 665 of them earning the designation.

The full list will be published in the May issue of G.I. Jobs magazine, and can be found online at MilitaryFriendly.com.
