Maria Masson, 90, was a loving mother, wife, friend

Maria Ernestina Masson (née Montiel), born in New York City, passed away on Friday, Jan. 21, 2022, at home, surrounded by her loved ones. She was 90.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, Carlos Pacifico Masson.

She is survived by her five children: Monica (James), Penny (Robert), Carla (Christopher), Alexis (Bobby) and David (Judy), as well as her 13 cherished grandchildren: Alexandra, Justin (Annalisa), Virginia, Lukas (Dorothy), Samantha, Melissa (Nilton), Cassidy, Leile, Matthew, Christian, Aidan, Dahlia and Chance. And three precious great-grandchildren: Maximus, Mila, and one on the way.

She was a dedicated sister-in-law, and also an amazing “Aunt Mary” to many nieces and nephews. She was a very religious Catholic, dedicating herself to God, Visitation Church, and to helping the poor.

She worked at the Methodist Home for more than 20 years, always lending a helping hand to the elderly residing there. Her prayers could change your life.

Anyone who knew her loved her smile, and being in her presence made your day better. She had many good friends, and was well known in the community for being so kind and selfless.

She will be forever missed by her family, relatives and friends.

Maria’s children say their mom would also love if you kept her legacy alive by doing something nice for someone else.
