The Rev. Angel Custodio Bonilla Cifuentes, at the seasoned age of 94, passed away peacefully at his home in the Bronx,  after a well-fought illness on Aug. 11, 2022, at 1:15 p.m.

His wife, his children and extended family were by his side.

He served at Second Christian Church Disciples of Christ.

He was born in Temuco, Chile, on Aug. 1, 1928. His calling led him to travel extensively in the service of God, community, and his loving family. His life was fully committed to the service of others and to fight for social justice for the oppressed. To serve others, he earned his formal theological education.

He was an avid reader, a music lover, and a family head who loved his Bustelo coffee. He loved teaching his kids how to fly a kite and how to enjoy a good soccer game.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Hortensia. He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Miguel. He is also survived by his four children: Maria, Daniel, Sandra, and Patricia and their spouses Kent, Annabelle, Kevin, and Isaac; his grandchildren, Alex (and his wife Emily), Emily (and her wife Daniella), Kelly, Joshua, Kaitlyn, and Jeremy. And his great-grandson, Gabriel Miguel.

He was a “father” to many more.

Williams Funeral Home handled arrangements and services.
